Just announced... Phish is set to release a 2 DVD set titled "Star Lake '98"
Video taken from a 3 camera feed from the lawn screens, and mixed from the multi-track masters promise to feature the entire show from the Star Lake Amphitheater in Burgettstown, PA. The August 11th, 1998 show was one of the last of their '98 summer US tour. Significant buzz is circulating around the fact that this show opened with the only known live Phish performance of Bob Marley's "Trench Town Rock". :)
Expected release date of 12/11/12 with a projected MSRP of $23.97

It has become quite apparent that everything dubstep producer Jeff Montalvo, better known as Seven Lions, touches is instantly transformed into a work of delicate and ethereal beauty. Released yesterday on Skrillex’s OSWLA imprint, Seven Lions’Days to Come EP marks the major breakthrough of a prodigy we have been keeping an eye on for sometime. While his remix to Above and Beyond’s “You Got To Go” put him on the map, his Polarized EP solidified his promise, before immaculate remixes to Tritonal’s “Still With Me” and Velvetine’s “The Great Divide” paved the way to this moment: his sophomore EP release and his best work to date.
Read our breakdown of his genre-bending four track EP after the break.
“Days to Come,” the title track off the EP, is a splendid and radiant dubstep production, featuring the lovely vocal accompaniment of Fiora. It is resplendently soft and soothing, like the first seconds upon waking from a dream. Fiora’s evocative vocals are wrapped in a beautiful choral resonance before the well-produced, layered drop takes over, enveloping you in blissful bass. Simply put, this is dubstep for the soul.
In the same vein as “The Truth,” “Fractals” effortlessly incorporates dubstep into a pounding 132 BPM trance beat. Sudden halftime cuts with syncopated breakbeat percussion are seamlessly intertwined into the 4×4 beat, resulting in a delightfully unpredictable and flawlessly composed production.

Seven Lions lives up to his popular reputation as a producer of ‘trance-step’ with “The Truth.” While most of his productions take the form of dubstep with trance elements, “The Truth” approaches the generic fusion from the opposite angle, blending dubstep breaks into a grinding four-on-the-floor bassline. Melody-driven with sensuous breakdowns and an invigorating trance drop, “The Truth” is infatuating.

“She Was” represents Seven Lions’ first foray into the often overlooked genre of midtempo. Clocking in at 100 BPM, the track begins with a dreamy, sedative beat that is soon replaced by a growling, gurgling, seemingly organic bassline. Fellow Californians Birds of Paradise inject their imaginative, psychedelic soundscapes into the track, which, in typical Seven Lions fashion, masterfully walks the line between menacing and melodic. (Note: this track is available for free)
Seven Lions’ Days to Come EP represents the blossoming talent of a precocious producer who is finally starting to receive the attention he deserves. With his ventures into midtempo and trance, Seven Lions displays a keen sense of self-reinvention that will carry him on into the future. In a world obscured by overly excessive dubstep productions vying for the dirtiest drop, Seven Lions’ take on dubstep is as refreshing as it is impressive.

October 13th marks the rise of the Un-Dead in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Now in its 8th year, the Zombie Pub Crawl is set to take over St. Paul's Midway Stadium and Minneapolis' Cedar Ave. Droves of flesh eating, beer drinking, music loving zombies will flood the streets with fake blood and a hunger for BRAAIIINNNNS...
The West Bank will be over-run by walkers. Cedar Ave. from The Cabooze to Grumpy's Bar will be home to several stages and musical options from DJ sets to Metal, so you can find tunes to suit your zombie tastes. The Cabooze Plaza will have several "big" name acts like, Gin Blossoms (BTW, that's an early show @ 6 pm) and Big Freida, with music inside to the wee hours of the morning. I hope to still be on my feet for Sinden and Drankenstein, but that may be asking a lot. Check out the full itinerary for a complete list of bars and bands.
Midway Stadium, aka Zombie Island, will be host to Phil a huge inflatable zombie, carnival rides and fireworks all night long. Musical entertainment from acts like, Marijuana Deathsquads, RiFF RaFF and DMX will also fill the home of the St. Paul Saints. Please note: Zombie island is NOT at Harriett Island as some have reported.
Our Zombie Pub Crawl is the World's Largest gathering of Zombies. According to Guinness Book of World Records, the world record was set last year by the New Jersey Zombie Walk, with 4,093 Zombies. The 2011 ZPC was bigger, but Guinness didn't buy it. So, this year ZPC is going to make it official. At 8:00 pm at Midway Stadium an official rotting corpse count will put the title where it truly belongs, here in Minnesota. ZPC is shooting for over 8,000 un-dead, to completely obliterate the current record.
As if all of this wasn't enough, ZPC is playing to our Minnesota Pride by teaming up with Grainbelt for a special edition "Brain Belt" beer supply. My personal favorite adult libation gets a Zombified face-lift. They will be available throughout the ZPC and at several local liquor stores. Oh, and be sure to practice your Zombie Chant: What do we want? BRAINS. When do we want 'em? BRAAAIIIINNNS!
Want to go? Purchase a wrist band here for only $22.99, pick them up at numerous locations including any area Ragstock and get 20% off your zombie related purchases. A portion of the proceeds go to help several charities.... Who knew the un-dead have a heart.
