Trampled by Turtles CD Release Party at The Cedar Cultural Center
9:52 AM
Last night the MN Underground crew had the opportunity to take in a very intimate Trampled by Turtles show at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis. A crowd of only about 350 were admitted, and you had to purchase a copy of their forthcoming CD "Wild Animals" to get through the door. Known for their fast paced, string shredding flavor of Bluegrass, this new CD is a bit of a departure from that. A more melodic and technical approach gives this album a calmer and simply more relaxed feel than any of their previous work.
The Cedar was an ideal venue for this show. A small crowd by TBT standards and the amazing sound quality at The Cedar only highlighted the skills on display even more. It felt a bit odd to look around the audience of a Trampled show to see almost no one dancing. Instead, 300+ people stood like statues transfixed on the down-tempo sounds emanating from the stage.
For those of you that missed it, we were able to capture a few songs on video. The picture quality may leave a little to be desired, but it's the sound you are after anyways, right? If you didn't pre-sale your copy of "Wild Animals", it will be available everywhere next Tuesday 7/15... Enjoy!
"Come Back Home"
"Are You Behind the Shining Star?"
